This was the third year I participated in one of Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photo Walks (WWPW). They are held the same day in cities all around the world. My local walk for the Victoria, B.C. Area was in Oak Bay and started at the marina.

Quite some time ago I first met Henrietta, a chicken in search of her long lost uncle, Larry-Lays-Two-Eggs. I told the story of our meeting over at the Oopoomoo blog, and it can be found here. While Henrietta has grown quite comfortable on Vancouver Island, she has not given up her quest to find her long lost uncle. Recently, she searched high and low at Gordon’s Beach and even tried to recruit a passer-by to help, but in the end she knew it was up to her alone to find him.

Constanta, Romania, is the second, and final, Eastern European city that I travelled to for work. As I stayed there for almost two weeks, I managed to see a couple other places in Romania that I will describe in upcoming posts. Constanta is an interesting city with contrasting beauty and decay. One area on Piata Ovidiu is now a pedestrian only street, lined with cafes, pubs and souvenir shops, as well as the Museum of Natural History and Archeology and the Grand Mosque of Constanta. When looking at Google Maps Street View of the area, the image, from 2011 shows it was filled with moving and parked cars and far less pedestrian friendly than it is today.

One of my favourite places to go to get away from the hectic pace of life is Tofino, BC. It is a picturesque town about half way up the West coast of Vancouver Island and is exposed to the full force of the Pacific Ocean. This makes for some great storms and the perfect place to wash away your worries. Even when the rain is coming down its hardest, you’ll find someone out for a walk on the beach.

This year I want to take more photos both locally and when I am away from home. I started off the year with a trip to the Tofino area, where I had the chance to do a good amount of shooting and appreciating that beautiful area. January is frequently stormy and this year was no different.
